I, PhD, am an associate professor in science education at the Faculty of Teacher Education and Arts and Cultural Studies. I am a biologist, teacher educator and researcher and passionate about communicating biology and science within a general

education context. My research focuses on building bridges between science in general and biology in particular and school subjects, by, among other things, developing curriculum content. I conduct design-based research and use qualitative tools, such as text analysis, video observations and interviews, to explore how scientists and students develop and communicate and how teachers facilitate understanding of scientific concepts in the context of a dialogue-based and varied science education.

I teach various thematic areas within cell biology, physiology, education for sustainable development, biotechnology, philosophy of science and science didactics related to the Master of Primary School Teacher Education (MAGLU) and Practical Pedagogical Education (PPU). As a supervisor at Master and PhD level, I am happy to receive inquiries from interested students. I am involved in the local and international quality development work related to MAGLU and PPU studies.

I defended my dissertation in 2022 with the thesis Facing educational Challenges in Molecular Life Science – A Thesis to reconstruct Cell Membrane Biology for Upper Secondary Teaching and Learning.

I teach physiology, cell biology, science education and qualitative research methods on the Master's for primary school teacher training and science education on Practical Pedagogical Education (PPU) for General subjects.
