A candidate who has completed the education has the following learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills, and general competence:

Knowledge:

The candidate

  • has advanced knowledge about how global, national and local discourses affect kindergarten as an institution
  • has in-depth knowledge about philosophy of science and research methods that are relevant to the kindergarten field, globally and nationally, and how researchers’ positions affect research processes
  • is able to apply knowledge about the kindergarten teacher’s professional ethics awareness and use of professional judgement in their pedagogical work
  • is able to analyse the importance of different management and guidance theories regarding the work conducted by a pedagogical leader in a learning organisation
  • has advanced knowledge about the relationships that exist between professional practice and children’s formation, play and learning

Skills:

The candidate

  • is able to analyse academic issues in the kindergarten field in light of relevant research, the social mandate, and local, national and global discourses
  • is able to analyse and relate critically to how kindergarten-related discourses help develop the kindergarten teacher’s professional identity
  • is able to use knowledge and methods from research to critically relate to how different management styles and strategies can be applied in the role of pedagogical leader
  • is able to analyse and discuss what characterises the role of leader in kindergarten as a learning organisation
  • is able to analyse and discuss perspectives from philosophy of science and research methodology with regard to ethics and sustainability, which are important for the kindergarten field
  • is able to implement an independent and defined change process in their own organisation in accordance with applicable ethical norms

General competence:

The candidate

  • is able to apply the subject area’s forms of expression in order to convey their professional identity and justify their professional practice
  • is able to analyse relevant professional ethics issues related to kindergartens and the development of professional judgement
  • is able to apply their knowledge in order to become an aware and autonomous pedagogical leader
