Lule Saami 3 (LU3) is a study program that provides more comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of linguistic and literary topics. During the spring semester, students will write an in-depth thesis paper on a relevant academic topic. The paper will provide theoretical insight and practical work in line with scientific, research methodological and research ethical requirements.

This study program consists of three courses: Lule Saami Language 3, Modern Saami Literature and Thesis Paper.

Learning outcomes:

  • Have practical and theoretical knowledge of Saami language and use of Saami language
  • Have knowledge of the different Saami languages
  • Have an independent relationship with the subject, and a basis for further learning and development
General study skills. Must have passed both Lule Saami 1 (LU1) and  Lule Saami 2 (LU2) to be able to continue with Lule Saami 3 (LU3).
Saami languages are increasingly used in more and more areas of society, and Saami municipalities, Saami institutions and other institutions will need employees with good Saami language skills. This study program provides knowledge and insight that will be applicable in many contexts, such as teachings, cultural work, management, media and tourism. There is especially a need for Lule Saami teachers, and this study program can help to provide teachers with fundamental knowledge of Lule Saami language and grammar.
The study is gathering based, and there are 3-4 collections in each semester. The collections will mainly be added to Drag in Tysfjord.

No tuition fees. Costs for semester registration and course literature apply.

Students should expect costs to incur in relation to sessions at Drag or elsewhere.
