If the applicant does not fulfill the requirements for the Higher Education Entrance Qualification but has experience-based competence relevant to the field of study, he or she may apply for recognition of this competence in order to fulfill the admission

The one year study programme in geography qualifies graduates for admission to further studies at the Bachelor level in Geography at Nord University, or at other universities. It can also be incorporated into other Social Science degrees. A degree in Geography can lead to a wide range of career opportunities. Geographers work in the private and public sector, and are often hired for positions that require planning and management skills, as well as good knowledge of maps and practical skill required to apply Geographic information system software. The degree also qualifies for teaching geography and social sciences in high school.

No tuition fees. Semester fees and cost of course literature apply. Expenses for accomodation and food during the seminars / gatherings must be covered by the students. Travel expenses to and from the seminars / gatherings must also be covered by the students.
The programme is evaluated via student questionnaire, as well as by the programme director. The evaluations form a part of the University's quality assurance system.
