Mental Health Recovery – Informing Innovations in Youth Services

The course aims to provide students with knowledge of Mental Health Recovery. Through group work processes, students will develop the ability to explore goals, methods, and challenges related to recovery-oriented practices in an international context.

The course is organized as a Blended Intensive Programme, with two digital sessions prior to the Summer School week at the end of June.

The course emphasizes innovation across health and welfare services for youth and encourages students to critically examine how recovery perspectives can inspire innovation in services. Additionally, we will explore barriers to implementing recovery-oriented practices and discuss strategies to overcome these challenges.

You are eligible if:

1. You are enrolled as a student at one of the SEA-EU Alliance universities, which are:

  • University of Cadiz
  • University of Bretagne Occidentale
  • Kiel University
  • University of Gdańsk
  • University of Split
  • University of Malta
  • Parthenope University of Naples
  • University of Algarve

2. If you are a student with an active study right at a university or university college in Norway.

3. If you are a student with an active study right at a university with whom Nord University has an exchange agreement (pdf).

Knowledge

The student:

  • has knowledge of central theories and practices related to mental health recovery among youth
  • has knowledge of methods that support service innovation in health and welfare services

Skills

The student:

  • can apply recovery-oriented approaches to case examples and group work, and critically assess their relevance in different service settings and national contexts

General competence:

The student:

  • is able to reflect on ethical, organizational, and societal barriers for and implications of service innovation in health and welfare services
All participants cover own travel and accomodation costs.
Elective. For students participating in Nord Summer School.

The course work consists of two digital sessions, on the 8th and 18th of June 17:30-19:00, followed by a week in person studying, 29th of June to 3rd of July, at Nord University, campus Bodø. In addition to the digital sessions, students must expect to work individually and in student groups to prepare for the in person study week.

The physical week is integrated in the Nord University Summer School.

The evaluation will take place at the end of the course, ensuring that all students have theopportunity to participate.

Compulsory participation (OD). Approved/not approved.

Oral examination (MU), group. Passed/failed.

Generating an answer using ChatGPT or similar artificial intelligence and submitting it wholly orpartially as one's own answer, is considered cheating.
